Looking for an alternative web log tool!

I've been looking around today while Deb's at work for an alternative to Blogger. In the past I would go to the Blogger site, and if it wasn't down I'd start typing my post. If it was a fairly long post I would get a "Page Cannot Be Found" error after typing it all and hitting "post". The first time I lost all the text. After that I'd copy the text before hitting "post" and if it failed I would paste the text in the window after logging out and back into Blogger.com. Thinking I had found a solution to this I found various "APIs", or software on my computer to post in and FTP to my site. Right after finding a couple of them, I tried to use two of them. Blogbuddy and w.bloggar are their names. Neither will connect to Blogger's API server, so they're pretty much useless. Since I like the way w.bloggar lets me see the formatting and see if my html worked, I use it anyway and paste it to Blogger when done. My search started at Google, with a simple search for "blogging tools" and I found a few leads. Quickly I discovered that each one would be either over my head, or completely web based for storage (not your own host). So I either have to cope with Blogger or learn to configure mySQL databases, ASP, Perl, etc. I'm not even sure I have mySQL databases. My host doesn't list it as an option that came with my package, but I have the option to add them in the control panel. I tried to work with a few of them, by starting to edit a CFG file. This file is one big mumble-jumbled mess and I'm not usually confused so easily, but it made me say "Ahh.. Blogger isn't SO bad" and give up. I'm sure there are similar ways to do an online journal such as this without relying on Blogger. If anyone happens to read this and has any reasonable suggestions let me know, by clicking on the "E-mail me" link to the left. I went out last night with Corey and Brian. We played some pool and had a few drinks. Afterwards we spent over 20 minutes in this little 24 hour car wash building washing Corey's car and then we left. Deb was already in bed because she had work at 9:30 AM. I have an easy shift tonight from 7 PM to midnight. Just stopped to call my Mom and play more phone tag, she's it. :) Well.. I'm really out of things to post right now, until next time... --------
