Burning the midnight oil.. at work?!?

Pretty soon I'll be working overnight a lot. Well.. the next two weeks only. The person who works overnight every night has to have a "break week" where she gets a couple nights off. I work her days off. On top of that I'm working her vacation after that. So I have a week of two overnights and four regular days, then I have a week of five straight overnights. I always say yes before realizing the error in judgement. I guess it seems okay when I'm not working overnight. I think "Ah.. it's no big deal" then I feel like killing someone when I'm on my second or third overnight in a row. You work when everyone's asleep and you try to sleep when everyone's awake and the sun is peeking through your window. It's an awful way to go for people that do it all the time. Luckily I don't have to do it all the time. The only reason I do it at all is because I need the money. The more money, the better off we are. It won't make us rich, but it will help pay bills. Ok.. enough thinking about that.. I'll be living it soon enough. Our connection is working ok now, I guess the kids in our neighborhood have lives instead of using the computer on a Friday night. What other way can I explain it? I used to think we weren't susceptible to peak usage slow downs, but we are. Especially now that we work some afternoons and are actually home during peak times. With the exception of tonight, it has slowed considerably at night. Not enough to affect normal browsing most of the time, but I'm compulsive when it comes to testing my speed. If it's not around the 1500/768 area, I make a big deal of it. :) I guess it's just my thing.. some people edit their pages constantly.. and I like to test and monitor my internet connection. Things at home have been good.. no rants or raves about that right now. We were going to go to the Big E tonight but it was raining pretty hard. It's an indoor/outdoor thing and best experienced if weather permits both. We're going to go tomorrow around 10 AM, weather permitting. I think it'll be fine.. look at how it is now.. They observe it at an air base in Westfield, MA sometimes I guess. Other times it's done from Chicopee. I guess the air base in Chicopee isn't reporting in? Anyway.. you can see that there. Whenever you look at it, that's what it's doing here. It's actually warmer now than it was earlier today. Who knew? :) Anyway.. until next time... --------
