What a day!
Yesterday started out by going to a job interview. I know I have a job, but I'm never just satisfied with what I have. Just as I was starting to sour on the job I'm working I went and applied for one other job just for kicks. I didn't think much of it at the time, but I got called back an hour later. Then I thought nothing of the interview at first, but it ended up going so well. It starts out less than the job I have now, but would quickly equal and pass this job. If it were depicted on a line graph the job I have now would be a straight line left to right. This other job would start lower and quickly ascend higher than the other.
It's a matter if where I see it in a year. The max you can get in a year with my current job is $1 more. This is if you learn every single client there is. No more room for improvement, no regular raises. They make it very difficult to learn enough to get half of that dollar. To know all that would be pure hell every day anyway. We get around 10 memos a day and those would apply to you each time if you knew a lot of clients. A memo usually changes the way you do something in a particular client. You get trained one way, a memo changes it, and a test comes along to make sure you retained the info from the memo.
On an unrelated note, this job makes you feel like cattle in a herd. Most of all, you are completely unimportant. If you quit they'll deal with it. If a bunch of people quit they do their "job fair". They set up rules so that they have many avenues by which they can terminate your employment with no recourse. Not at all like the union at my old job. I might just have to make the best choice for the long run. I'm not a person who likes to jump from job to job. I'd prefer to get one and keep it for years. I've proven it in the past and I will continue to do so.
Yesterday we went to the driving range and hit some golf balls, then played tennis, and then went out to play pool. I wasn't sore yesterday, but boy am I sore today. Mostly from the golfing. Tennis isn't really anything that gets me sore. With hitting golf balls I hurt myself because I don't have a real golf swing. We were just goofing off. They put a bunch of targets in the field and you try to hit them. I hit these mailboxes on wooden posts. :) It was fun, but I'm glad we only do it once a year. Alright.. I'm done for now. Until tomorrow..
