A Google black hole.. AOL chat rooms.. Boat parade..

An odd collection of subjects for my title, I know. I have a habit of Googling for comments by people about their job. When I was sure I'd get the Wal-Mart job I found a lot about people who worked at Wal-Mart Distribution Centers across the country. Now I'm going to be working at Cingular and I went and Googled that. Talk about a black hole, there's very little found with any search relating to working there. I have researched the union and I've narrowed my 'Local' down to two. I know they're part of CWA (Communications Workers Assoc.), and there are two Jax offices. I found an oddly incomplete site with people who work at an inbound Cingular call center and just complain about it. It wasn't anything special, the same gripes people have about their job. Lately we've messed around with a free trial of AOL. I could never pay for this crap. It's amusing while stuck on dialup, but once we get cable it's getting uninstalled. Come to think of it I'm glad it's not installed on MY computer. People in these rooms are of the lowest intelligence for the most part. My Mom has AOL back home, getting started on a computer for the first time. She's addicted to it I think. I see her online at 7 AM and I can't remember the last time she was up that early. I think she just stayed up all night. I feel bad because I told my Grandmother I'd get my Mom to call and she didn't want to. Sure it's no barrel of monkeys, but it's a holiday thing. Ah well.. don't know I'll explain that away. She just gets depressed talking to my Grandmother. Yesterday we went down to the river to see the boat parade. It was nice, and nothing I've ever experienced. There's a river running through Western MA, but they never do this stuff up there. The whole idea is that it's a competition to light your boat up and float it past judges and all the spectators. I have no idea who won, but there were some really good ones. There's really not much to say about that. It was in the 30's and people were very cold. I dressed warm, but I think my exposed face and ears are better able to withstand the cold than these Floridians. To them 60 is chilly, while I'm out in shorts and a t-shirt basking in the summer air. :) I'm the crazy northerner easy to pick out in a crowd, even more so after speaking. Ah well.. I am what I am, regardless of where I live. Until next time.. --------
