More plot twists than a movie..
First I get offered interview after interview at the Wal-Mart warehouse and then no call. Then I get close to getting god knows how many jobs including the last one: a third shift temporary warehouse job. I get the interview and a promised call back to meet the head guy for another interview. It's a sure thing according to this moron, but no. I get a call 2 1/2 hours later saying I will not be offered a second interview. Whatever.. I'm starting to get used to this crap.
Yesterday evening I decide to take a car ride with Deb's Brother to go pay a bill in person with him. Soon after walking in the place with him my phone starts ringing. I step outside to take it and it turns out to be good news. Well.. good and bad. The Cingular Wireless call center job I applied for that started between $9-$11 depending on qualifications had called to extend an offer of employment for $10.44 an hour. The bad is that it doesn't start until December 29th. My head is still spinning like a top trying to figure out how I got .56 short of the top starting rate. I expected $9 if I even got the job at all. We took a computer simulation test that I finished 10 minutes before everyone else and apparently did very well on.
I finally have my dream job. It's not sales related for the most part. We do "upsell" if it's necessary. For instance if Mr. Jones there is using a lot of minutes on a low minute plan we'll suggest a higher minute plan. The main focus of my job will be outbound retention calls. Basically, if you're a Cingular customer and you're near the end of your contract.. expect a call from me. We'll do what we have to do to keep you as a customer. Offer a free phone, more minutes, etc. There's no quota, demand, or requirement to "keep" a certain amount of customers. We just try our best to do what's in our power to keep them. I have to go pick my employment packet up today. Until next time..
