I found this article a few days ago and BroadbandReports.com wasn't interested in linking it, so I will (Full Story): Jacksonville has expanded its free wireless Internet program to three more low-income neighborhoods, a move that Mayor John Peyton said would help the city attract business, fight illiteracy and revitalize downtown. The Jax Wireless Internet Zone program sets up Wi-Fi transmission points in several locations allowing anyone in the area with the proper type of modem to access a high-speed Internet connection. Through the program, residents in the target areas who fall under certain federal poverty limits can also receive donated computers. --------
