Life at Dialup Speeds..
In the beginning of January I will be ordering cable internet for the home I'm living in. Sure it's new to Deb's Mom and Brother, but I can hardly live without it. To get me by and provide a little amusement on dialup I've been using a free trial of AOL. It's just funny to go into a chat room and watch people. It seems that each person, no matter the age, is looking to meet a person of the opposite (or same?) sex in person. In order to do that they must screen everyone first. They need your age, sex, location, and of course.. a picture. Why are these necessary? Well.. because they need to know if you're worthy of their company.
By the time I get broadband it will have been three months on dialup. At first my method was to just not use it and it wouldn't bother me. Now I use it, but I know the limits of it. Unlike Deb, I don't try to load four pages at once or download music. Those are things you do on broadband. Even Homestar Runner takes forever to load on dialup. I did manage to go see the latest Strongbad e-mail last week, after what seemed like a 20 minute wait. I don't think I'll bother this week. I'd like to just stay away, but I'm addicted to the internet. Until tomorrow..
